PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY HOLDS THE KEY TO SOCIETAL DEVELOPMENT

The law maker representing Bende North state constituency has called for overall participation of everyone and for all segments of the society to eschew apathy and participate fully in all aspects of democracy given its galvanising potency to drive innovation, growth and change in the development trajectories of the state.

He said this when he touched base at South African parliament while attending the 2023 Ziwani regional connect event in Stellenbosch, Cape Town South Africa; he opined that, this will lead to the ownership of the leader and in turn support for his vision and policies. This will equally lead to full participation and support for success at all the stages of the policy process- especially during the implementation stage which holds great benefit for the people.

The event which was well attended had Martin Kuscus a former MEC of Finance in the North West Provincial Government, a 2004 CEO of South African Bureau of Standards and a remarkable leader who played significant roles in shaping South Africa’s democratic landscape as the keynote speaker. Nigeria at 63: Let Chequered Experiences Serve As Springboard For Unity, Peace And Progress

In the evolution of nations, and nation states, several historical experiences; either positive, or order wise serve as tapestry that weave together and strengthen the bonds of unity, and progress.

Similarly, our country Nigeria like other countries, especially South Africa that emerged from the throes, crucibles of apartheid has equally gone through debilitating challenges including a civil war. So, while the latter has turned her negatives into positives like the Roben lsland turned into a revenue yielding tourist venture, the onus at this point in history is on Nigeria to, in the same vein turn hers into bridges of national unity.

Unity, peace, and progress are engraved as motto on the country’s coat of arm; these divine attributes should hold an endearing veritable platform for our growth, and development as a people.

It is on these tripods therefore, that l enjoin all leaders-religious, political, business: in fact, all Nigerians to anchor their ships of future relationships, interactions, and brotherhood. For it is only then, we will be able to, not only reclaim our position and lost glory as the giant of Africa, but equally mount and stand on equal pedestal with comity of developed nations that are contributing in all ramifications on the global turf.

Nigeria has stayed on the periphery for quite too long, now is the time to reassert, reposition, and rebound. This is in order to save her people and the African continent from the next global scramble whose impact will be more eerie, debilitating, and devastating than the former.

Therefore, this year’s independence celebration should provide us as a people, a moment for soul searching, retrospection, as well as, galvanise everyone to solemnly reaffirm his/her Nigerianness. And purposefully pursue the lofty dreams and ideals for greatness as envisaged by her founding fathers, as well as, purveyors of the independent struggle. The same equally holds true of Bende North state constituency in dire need of rebinding the filial- umblical cord that ties us in unity as Umunna. And this can only happen by building anew, bridges of love, selflessness, and kindness one unto another. Only then, can we proudly beat our chests and say, “we are equally God’s creation”. And glory to God for the fulfillment of His essence for our being.

Therefore, let us light, make aglow continually, our candles of hope while we also put our hands on the driving wheels; ferociously drive into reality our expectations without looking back.

Happy independence

Oziomachi Lights Up Umunna

*Oziomachi Lights Up Umunna*

” The essence of our being humans is seen in our shared humanity. Which the the holy write promotes as the golden rule doing unto others”

Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe,

Over the years, the member representing Bende North State Constituency Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe, through his Oziomachi Foundation has exemplified this by touching lives, changing conditions of those whose circumstances are deplorable. It was in this light that one evening, he was passing one evening and saw people gathered in one place. He stopped, walked closer and behold, it was a UNDP donated cassava mill but the women were in darkness, using torch lights and all manner of dim, flickers of light they could get to grind casava both inside and outside. Without being recognized, he left the scene.

The next day, he ordered for solar lights and said let there be lights that illuminate the darkness the women are passing through. Let the deplorable state be changed to a better one and the women are quite elated for this. That is Oziomachi! And that’s what governance should be. Touching lives, changing conditions and putting a ladder for people to climb into greatness; releasing potentials, both hidden and known.

Oziomachi as symbolized by Honourable Nnamdi Ibekwe believes in touching lives. Let us all look at our environment and touch lives together at least we can reverse the order of people sleeping without food; young men having no work and so much more. Most especially giving hope to the hopeless; making people believe in themselves again that therein them lies greatness and they can achieve the essence of being in Umunna, in Abia state and in Nigeria. Let us all decide to promote our shared humanity.

As these women are so happy, that something has happened in their lives, I know they in turn will make other people happy and the circle of happiness will continue. Let us decide to ignte a light and let it shine to every soul; let us make a soul happy and that soul makes another souls happy so that the circle of happiness continues. That is Oziomachi.
