With the surge in global palm oil prices as well as, palm oil import from Malaysia, member elect Bende North state constituency, Hon Nnamdi Ibekwe has called for more investment by people from Bende North all over the country and beyond to consider investment in palm oil produce chain.
He harped on its essence in view of its overall economic benefits which includes, but not limited to source of revenue/income, employment, development and industrialisation of the constituency and south east region as a whole.
Speaking further, he stated that, currently the inherent opportunities are under utilised, hence, the urgent need to latch unto the global palm oil demand and increase in price to launch a well orchestrated plan that will unbundle and unleash the great potentials and benefits.
He bemoaned the current state of palm produce chain, said, that it is a pity that Malaysia that, came in the 50s to learn and also take seedlings from south east now lead the global palm oil business. Speaking further, he said it is time to reclaim the position for the benefit our people.
